Martinez Cocktail | An Amazing 1930s Post-Prohibition Recipe

This drink is the missing link historically between the Manhattan and the Martini. The Martinez as I have it here is the 1950s variation which uses angostura bitters instead of cardamom bitters like the original. The original Martinez is essentially a gin Manhattan.

Learn how to make the post prohibition style Martinez Cocktail. This cocktail is the perfect balance of sweet and dry.

Ingredients

  • 3 dashes

  • Angostura Bitters
  • 1 oz

  • Sweet Vermouth
  • 2 oz Dry Gin

Directions

  • Add Ice To Mixing Glass and combine all ingredients in the mixing glass.
  • Stir the ingredients for 20 – 30 seconds to properly chill and dilute the drink.
  • Strain into glass.
