The Gin Fizz isn’t as well know as the Whiskey Fizz or Pisco Sour but it is just as good. Adding eggs to alcohol is as old as cocktails themselves, and while it may sound odd to us today it adds a nice creamy sweetness to the drink. Don’t think of fried eggs or scrambled eggs think of a lemon meringue pie instead. Egg whites whipped into a meringue and added to cocktails proved to be so popular back in the day that many people preferred their sours with egg whites.
Gin Fizz ingredients:
- 60 mls (2 oz) Dry Gin
- 15 mls (1/2 oz) Simple Syrup
- 20 mls (2/3 oz) Lemon Juice
- 15 mls (1/2 oz) Egg White
Combine all ingredients in the shaker. Shake dry for 30 second – egg foams better when not cold. Now add ice to the shaker. Vigorously shake again till the shaker is ice cold and frosted. Strain into glass to remove ice shards
ABV = 23%
